Astoria, Queens, New York City. That’s the home of the aptly named band The Boroughs. Out of all the boroughs in New York City, Astoria is one of the more pleasant to be in. The band is a hard rock trio that specializes in crafting melodies and nice bass line hooks. You can hear the influences of The Clash and The Ramones in their sound—it’s pseudo punk rock with a nice bit of ‘70’s rock ‘n’ roll tossed in for good measure. Everything is up-tempo and up-beat and while plenty of bands are doing the garage rock thing these days, few come close to getting right. I believe The Boroughs might have not only done it right but made it their own.
