Shortsighted critics compare this Queens' speedy punk trio to The Ramones (not that old canard again!), but that's tres superficial. If you want closer reference, try this: Big Takeover favorite Ash. Leader Ryan Dwork even sounds/sings like Tim Wheeler and wonderfully, his guitars seem to blast off like our Irish/English faves, as 16th-note-rolls-loving drummer Grady Feldgus and bassist Justin Farrell lay down strenuous, fluid rock 'n' roll rhythms for hyper-catchy songs. Of course, these boys' influences are much broader: "Good Times" quotes the closer-to-home 1979 Talking Heads'"Life During Wartime" over a melody like post-Raw Power Stooges obscuro "Head On", while "Another Sad Song" makes excellent use of a light ska beat. Otherwise, I like my punk like this: with springy energy, sharp playing, strapping energy, pre-hardcore backbeat and a spirt that defies nostalgia.
